Part 4 of the Timothy Series — Surrender, Calling, and the Cost of Obedience

Introduction: Two Years Later…….A Plan That Made Sense… Until It Didn’t

This was two years after that fateful night. Tim was playing Scrabble with two younger boys in his room. The boys were two brothers whose family had moved into the neighbourhood within the last year. And in no time, they had gravitated towards Tim, like most of the other boys.

Tim’s house has become a melting point for them.  And his grandma delighted in seeing the boys gather.

In the last two years since pastor Pee left, Tim’s life has changed drastically. From that unsure boy who was struggling to stand up to his peers, a Daniel has emerged.

And recently, he began to get a leading that God was leading him to bigger things. Things which diverged from the straight line graph he plotted for his future:

  • Finish college.

  • Serve in youth ministry.

  • Maybe start a small business to support his mother and grandmother.

The Nudge: When God Speaks Without Words

But God communicated other plans.

It wasn’t a voice.
It was a stirring.
A restlessness.

A sense that something was shifting, and Tim was being summoned.

He remembered one of Pastor Pee’s favourite quotes:

“To whom much is given, much is required

Moreover, pastor Pee’s replacement recently placed him in charge of the Junior church.

The Struggle to Surrender

Tim didn’t feel ready.
He felt young.
Unqualified.
Afraid.

But he also felt chosen.

The Decision That Changed Everything

One morning, as the 5AM song rose again from his grandmother’s room, Tim whispered:

“Yes, Lord. I’ll go where You send me.”

And the peace that followed was unlike anything he’d ever known.

The Weight of Influence

Tim taught the boys about purity.
About purpose.
About how to treat women with tenderness and honor.

He wasn’t perfect.
But he was present.
And that made all the difference.

The Moment of Becoming

One night, after a youth meeting, a younger boy pulled him aside.

“Thanks, Tim. You’re like a father to us.”

Tim smiled.
And silently, he whispered:

“Thank You, Lord. I see it now.”
