Letter To Lucifer

Hello Lucifer,

My grandfather, Reverend David Nwokocha, died at 100+ years.  He could not stand the boredom after his wife left.

My grandmother, Mama-Ukwu was 87 when she bowed out with dignity

My mother SUB, a septuagenarian is still here.

My father SI ran off at 74.  His soul became weary after the accident and for the next six years he humoured his willful wife by holding out .   You and I both know that your intent was to take him out when that car ran over a stationary man.  A plot which Heaven foiled.

I did not meet my paternal grandparents.

My father was number 4 of 4 siblings.  Two older brothers whom I knew and a sister I never met. Some stories about dying in her prime courtesy of a bad marriage.  His brothers died in older ages than him.

With such an intimidating cloud of forebearers as witnesses,  on what grounds are you threatening me with untimely death?  Why seek an exception on my case?

What is this constant talk of catching an infection and ending up in a coma?  What infection now could be as disastrous as that COVID right after Chemotherapy? did I die then despite how scary it was?

We both have a history.  You do agree that you have always had it in for me.  I am ashamed though to say that I caught on to your antics quite late.

How sad that you still feel I am a waste of space and cannot comprehend why God continues to *dau damara* over me.  I used to feel the same way too until I began to get it.

Your dirty techniques became more pronounced following your anger at how I survived that cancer plot.  I do not know which of us is more shocked at how God pulled that off.  Even now, I still stand in awe.

As I sign off, let me remind you of this story you seem to have forgotten – that time at the village you attacked my mother at a vulnerable point.  As she recounted it; she found herself walking alone along the trail to Iyi** in the scorching afternoon sun.  She crossed the bridge leading to her maternal home and began walking along a lonely unfamiliar road until she emerged in a Clearing.  There were a group of women in that Clearing and one of them screamed out on seeing her

“Taaa***, who brought this child here?

what do you seek here?”

However, before she could respond, her late grandmother emerged and began chasing her away.  Her grandma chased her further along until she got back to the compound.  She woke up to a pandemonium and soaked in her blood which she had vomited.  That was one of your attacks on her which you have not stopped till today.  I know you detest me because you hate her but unfortunately for you

I am still here.

*Dau Damara*  Hausa for gird your loins.
