“Camera One, reset your Focus Assist. You are out of focus”
The instruction filtered into my head through the airwaves. And I quickly did as instructed. As I ran my hand over the button, the blue lights encircled the subject in the spotlight. The view was sharper now.
The Focus Assist is a camera function. A technique called Focus Peaking where the camera helps provide clarity of image by highlighting objects in colours.
Meanwhile, between the voices on the airwaves and the one coming from the Stage, my mind strayed.
“I like the colour of her jacket. How the shade of blue flowers on the hem contrasts with the blue of her jeans” I made a mental note to check her out later
Trailing her movements with the crosshairs, I kept admiring her jacket.
“Camera Two, get ready to go live in 1,2,3…….” the instruction interrupted my thoughts. And with that respite, I took my eyes off the lens and scanned the room before settling on the Stage.
“What? the flowers on her jacket were white!”
“How?”
“Where was the blue trimmings I had been admiring?”
“Oh no! It was the Focus Assist. It was reflecting the blue lights to my focused eyes. And I had almost believed she was wearing blue instead of white.
“How many times in Life have you seen blue instead of white” my head taunted as I cringed inwardly
“Camera One get ready to……” I jerked back to attention as I mused over what just happened.
How often in life do you view life through the wrong colours? You sit in your comfort zone with your rose-tinted prisms and make biased deductions?
Nevertheless, as you hide behind that camera, you forget your views could be distorted. You are now an expert on Life and think you know it all. Deluded into comfort, you begin to pass judgements.
Today, why not take your eyes off that focus and question your assumptions?
